What the clinic treats

Each treatment in everyday words. The bar on each one shows which parts of the tooth it works on, using the same five parts as the tooth above.

हर इलाज, आसान शब्दों में।

  1. A dentist uses a small blue light to harden a filling while the patient wears tinted glasses.

    Fillings for cavities

A cavity is a small hole made by decay. The dentist cleans out the soft, decayed part and fills the hole with a tooth-coloured material, then hardens it with a small blue light.

    Ask about a filling
  2. A dentist in pink scrubs looks through a dental microscope beside the treatment chair.

    Root canal treatment

When germs reach the nerve inside a tooth, it throbs, hurts at night or swells. The dentist numbs the tooth, cleans out the infected nerve through a small opening, seals the inside and usually puts a cap on top. It saves the tooth instead of pulling it out.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about a root canal
  3. A man in the dental chair has his teeth cleaned by a dental professional.

    Cleaning and polishing

Plaque that isn’t brushed away hardens into tartar, a rough yellow crust that a toothbrush can’t remove. A cleaning (called scaling) scrapes it off with small instruments, then the teeth are polished smooth.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about a cleaning
  4. Close-up of front teeth and pink gums held open with a soft plastic cheek holder during a check-up.

    Bleeding or swollen gums

Gums that bleed when you brush are usually irritated by tartar along the gum line. A cleaning and better brushing at home usually settle them. Left alone, gum trouble can slowly loosen teeth.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about your gums
  5. A gloved hand holds a plaster mould of a row of teeth.

    Caps (crowns) and bridges

A crown is a cap shaped like your tooth. It covers a broken, weak or root-canal-treated tooth. A bridge holds a false tooth in a gap by fixing it to the teeth on either side. Both are made from a mould of your teeth.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
Ask about a cap or bridge
  6. Steel dental forceps lying next to a model of a jaw on a pale blue surface.

Taking out a tooth, including wisdom teeth

When a tooth can’t be saved, or a wisdom tooth (the last tooth at the very back) is stuck under the gum or keeps hurting, it can be taken out. The area is numbed first.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about a tooth removal
  7. A clear plastic jaw model showing metal implant screws under two false teeth.

    Implants for a missing tooth

An implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up. A small metal post is placed in the jaw bone, the bone heals around it, and a tooth-shaped cap is fixed on top. Ask whether it suits you.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about an implant
  8. Gloved hands polish a set of false teeth with a small rotating brush.

    Dentures (false teeth)

Removable false teeth for several or all missing teeth. A full denture replaces a whole row; a partial denture fills the gaps between your own teeth.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about dentures
  9. A smiling patient while a shade guide of tooth colours is held up beside her teeth.

    Teeth whitening

A whitening gel, stronger than any toothpaste and used under the dentist’s care, lightens stains from tea, coffee or tobacco. It works on your natural teeth, not on caps or fillings.

    EnamelDentineNerveGumRoot
    Ask about whitening
  10. A dentist in pink gloves places a thin tooth-coloured cover on a smiling patient’s front tooth.

    Smile makeover

Cosmetic dentistry changes how your front teeth look: reshaping, tooth-coloured bonding, thin covers called veneers, or caps. The clinic is listed for aesthetic (cosmetic) dentistry; ask what suits your teeth.

Filling, root canal, cap or removal?

The four fixes people ask about most, side by side. These are typical; the dentist decides after looking at your tooth.

Question Filling Root canal Cap (crown) Taking it out
When it’s needed A small or medium cavity in the outer layers Decay or a crack has reached the nerve: throbbing, pain at night, swelling The tooth is broken or weak, or has had a root canal The tooth can’t be saved, or a wisdom tooth is stuck
What happens Decay is cleaned out and the hole is filled with tooth-coloured material The infected nerve is cleaned out from inside and the tooth is sealed The tooth is shaped, a mould is taken and a cap is fixed over it The tooth is gently loosened and lifted out
Numbing Often, for deeper cavities Yes Usually, while shaping Yes
Visits, usually 1 1 to 3 2 1, plus a check
Keeps your tooth? Yes Yes Yes No; the gap can be filled later

What modern equipment means for you

The general idea behind four things you may see in a dental clinic today. This explains what they do for a patient; ask the clinic which of them it uses.

A computer screen showing digital X-ray pictures of a jaw and teeth. A bright, clean dental treatment room with a white chair, light and instruments.

Stock photos, not this clinic’s equipment.

  • Digital X-rays

The picture appears on a screen in seconds, with less radiation than old film. The dentist can zoom in and show you exactly what is wrong.

  • Motor-driven root canal files

Thin, flexible files turned by a small motor clean the inside of the root more evenly than hand files. Root canals can take fewer, shorter sittings.

  • Steam sterilising

Instruments are cleaned with high-pressure steam (an autoclave) and kept in sealed pouches until your turn. You can ask to see the pouch opened.

  • Mouth camera

A pen-sized camera shows your own tooth on a screen, so you see the crack or cavity yourself before you decide anything.

Questions people ask

Is the clinic open on Sunday?

No. It is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm and 5 to 8:30 pm, and closed on Sunday. Hours can change on festival days, so call first.

Which number should I call or WhatsApp?

098939 99897. It is the number on the clinic’s Google listing.

Does a root canal hurt?

The tooth is numbed first, so most people feel pressure rather than pain during the treatment. The tooth can feel tender for a few days afterwards. The throbbing pain that brings people in usually stops once the infected nerve is removed.

My tooth hurts with cold water. What is it?

Often it is sensitivity: the inner layer (dentine) is exposed because the enamel has worn or the gum has pulled back. Sometimes it is an early cavity. A check-up tells which, and both are usually simple to treat.

How much does treatment cost?

It depends on what your tooth needs. Ask the clinic on the phone or at your check-up; fees are not listed on this site.

How do I pay?

Justdial lists cash. Ask the clinic if you want to pay by UPI or card.
